The Group has released a statement about a ceremony on Friday 9 December at which the Chair of London Councils and Mayor of Hackney Jules Pipe named a new class 379 train "The West Anglian". Also present were Dean Finch, Chief Executive of National Express PLC, and Jennette Arnold the London Assembly Member for north east London.
The train naming recognised the work of the Group which has worked with National Express East Anglia to secure improvements on services from Liverpool Street through north London into Essex, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. These improvements have included the introduction of thirty new trains as well as timetable enhancements including shorter journey times, longer trains and more frequent services to Stratford.
