The West Anglia Routes Group has formally responded to the rail Initial Industry Plan, which will inform investment plans to 2019, by making a strong case for an appropriate level of strategic investment to support the delivery of:
- Four trains an hour from Brimsdown to Stratford via Tottenham Hale serving all stations on a clock-face timetable.
- Faster journey times for services from Hertford, Stansted and Cambridge.
To facilitate this the Group calls for:
- Brimsdown – Stratford to be presented as a standalone scheme since it offers offers: Better Journey Opportunities; Better Journey Times; Increased Capacity.
- The Office of Rail Regulation to recognise that the overall funding required will be up to the £247m required for additional tracks all the way from Brimsdown to Stratford.
- The rail industry to identify a scheme for inclusion in the High level Output Specification which delivers a regular four trains an hour, all stations service to Stratford, with faster journey times from outside London.
